The power of words was one my rough drafts that I wrote in class that I really favoured. I'm a very opinionated person, or so I'm told, and this was one of those topics I felt strongly about. What inspired me to write this article was the famous saying, "Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me." I disagree, personally I think they both hurt you, if not, words hurt you a lot more especially when they come from those you care about. Having that said, when I was writing this article, I felt like I couldn't live if I didn't have words to express my opinions. I'm also sure you feel the same way.
Have you ever experienced that nervous feeling before something? Have you ever had it for more then a few minutes? Has it ever hurt your tummy so much that you’d do anything to make that excitement go away? If you’ve had that feeling, or wandered why I said excitement and not nerves? It’s because it has been scientifically proven that the feeling of “nervousness” does not exist, but instead it’sexcitement. We think we are nervous, when we are actually eager.
I thought I experienced that feeling many times before a tournament, before a test, or even before a movie, but never in my life have I experienced butterflies in my tummy for a person. It’s crazy right? It has to be, otherwise I have no words to express this feeling. I know this thought is a little crazy, but I think if there is one person on this earth that I can think of at any time of the day, and just by thinking of them puts a smile on my face, then I know exactly who that person is. Do you know who that person is? I don’t know what this person ever did to me, or if it’s a magic spell, but boy oh boy is it addicting! This person can’t be anything but perfect, and they certainly can not be seen as any different in my eyes then really special.
This person in exact description is; down to earth, calm, always smiling, got those baby eyes you want to stare forever at, and most of all, the first time you lay your eyes on them, all you will want to do is smile because you can’t help it. Whenever I'm sad, or I feel lonely I think of that person and my mood changes. I smile more, I’m happier then ever and it’s only because of that person. Is that even possible? How does someone accumulate such power over me?
You know what hurts the most though? Even more then butterflies in your tummy before you see that person? The fact that you want to spend the rest of your life repaying them back with all the happiness they have given you, but you know that’s impossible. You know you can never keep someone forever like a puppy or a goldfish because let’s face it we can’t even keep those cute things never mind a boy. So how do you close your heart before it’s broken? How do you repay them for everything they have done without scarring them out of your life? And most of all, how do you live without them once they walk out of your life? I’ll tell you. Figure out who that person is now, and never ever let them go. Remind them all the time how special they are and how much they mean to you because what is worse then loosing the person you care the most about, is loosing somebody because you did not tell them they were your everything.
You cannot buy words, but you can buy paper. You cannot buy words, but you can buy the air. You cannot buy words, but you can buy someone’s life, right? So you can not put a price on words, but then how much is it really worth? You are given a gift that is unexplainable. You can persuade, inspire, manipulate and control others. The problem is what will you do with those words, and will it ever be enough? Think about it; when you die your stories might be passed down, but your words die with you, and when they do, where do they go? To heaven? To hell? To someone else?
Here’s the thing, if you are still not convinced think about this; if you didn’t read these words I wrote, you wouldn’t have an opinion. So is that something you’re willing to live without?
They were born like that, not made.

Power of words.
Words are important because they make us who we are. They give you the freedom of speech, and the power of stimulating ones mind and changing another. It is the power in your brain that you do not work for. I mean, how incredible is it to persuade someone to not commit suicide without using anything but words? The more astonishing thing is you do not have to be intelligent, or average, you can just be you. So yes, others are better at their words then you, but nobody can take your words away from you. Nobody has that authority to say, “Your words suck” because there is nobody.
This is not a game, a test or a degree, it’s an inner gift one chooses to tackle down throughout their lives, and others just find it unnecessary and a waste of time. I think words are a way to someone’s heart; not through food, not from sex, but with words. You fall in love with someone’s personality that can only be expressed by words. So if you did not or could not talk, or someone took away all the words you knew, what would you do with your life? More so, what would you have left?
You cannot buy words, but you can buy paper. You cannot buy words, but you can buy the air. You cannot buy words, but you can buy someone’s life, right?
