Writing poetry is like talking. It's just that easy for me. I've always had a ear for rhythm as a child, and I read a lot of rhyming books, and I think that is the reason this style of poetry stuck to me the most. This style is a simple style that follows this rule; abcb, abcb, abcb all the way to the end. This poem was written earlier in the course and it was inspired by, who was at the time, my first love. I write a lot about; love, life, lies, relationships, people, and many other topics, but I find my passion mostly about love and life.
My second poem is a different style of poetry, and it's called; Acrostic Poetry. Acrostic poems are simple poems in which the first letter of each line forms a word or phrase vertically. As you can see I have "One Type of Love," written in white, and each sentence starts with the letter given. This poem was written with two inspirational reasons; one being that it's how i've been feeling lately with everything that's been happening in my life, and secondly because what I was in grade three I wrote a similar poem that my mother loved, and I lost it, so I thought I would write another one. It's truly one of my favourites, as well as one of my shortest.
The kind of love he never returned.
When I first laid my eyes on him,
I knew he was the one,
Because every time he smiled,
My heart melted down.
He is perfection,
From head to toe,
And I love him,
More then he will ever know.
Every time I stare at him,
I lose myself in his eyes,
And I feel like I can never get enough of him,
Because time flies.
He carry’s his love with him,
The kind you only see through the eyes,
But I always find myself falling,
Falling through the other lies.
Not the lies he tells me,
Because he’s as honest as can be,
I’m talking about the other likes,
The ones people tell me.
They tell me he is not for me,
They say he will break my heart,
That I’m better off alone,
Then stabbed by a dart.
I tell them I know that game,
And that he won’t break my heart,
Because we’re better off together,
Then being apart.
I wake up with him in mind,
I think of him all day,
But in the end I doesn’t matter,
Because I know he’s not that far away.
He’s the love of my life,
He’s the best thing I’ve got,
So if you’re gonna take him away,
You’re gonna get caught.
He has the only key to my heart,
And boy does that scare me,
Because if he loses it,
Its means it was never meant to be.
I don't want to leave it to destiny,
I want to leave it up to us,
Because we’ve created the perfect world,
With no problems or a fuss.
I know I tease him,
And I push him away,
But I don't want to stop loving him,
It’s the best feeling of my day.
I don’t want him to fly away,
But I don't want to be compared,
Because it’s worse to hear,
Then to be shared.
He’s my baby,
And I’ll love him forever,
But I can’t love someone,
Who doesn’t want us together.
So tell me the truth,
Just tell me how you feel,
So for once I can rest,
That your love for me is real.
Sometimes you say things,
That make me wander a lot,
That’s why I space off sometimes,
Hoping I wouldn’t get caught.
It was hard for me to believe you,
Because I don’t trust men,
But you proved yourself to be,
A perfect ten out of ten.
That’s why I said, “I love you,”
Because it’s pretty much true,
Since there’s no room in my heart,
But there’s always room for you!
Lost
O n top of the world is where she wanted to be,
N nothing could ever stop her, not even me.
E verything she touched, turned into gold
T hat’s why she disappeared into the breeze and the cold.
Y ou could tell she was different, but she was just scared,
P acing back in forth in the woods her hopes and dreams flared.
E lla just wanted to find herself, and the person who she used to be,
O f course the perfect girl she was, before she met me.
F ar away from home she knew she was
L oving the adventure but more so the breaking of laws.
O nly the answer to the lost soul may she return
V ows that were made was what she really wanted to burn.
E ven though she never found what she was looking for, she swore she’d never return to the city where her dreams tore.
